The Nordic Way

The Danish concept of Hygge - pronounced "hoo-ga" - is slowly spreading its warmth into the wedding world. But if 'cosiness' doesn't immediately come to mind when you think of weddings, think again...

Hygge is, in essence, about creating an atmosphere that is warm and inviting, where cherished guests are welcomed and precious moments are spent together. Being Danish, Julie Michaelsen made hygge the theme for her fine art photography workshop, The Nordic Way.  It was an inspiring two days and assisting her to see that everything ran smoothly was a real pleasure. I met many talented photographers who I look forward to working with in the future.

As you can see, flickering candles, soft textures and natural florals created a touchingly romantic scene for this garden shoot (styled by the lovely Gemma from Rosy Apple Events).

Perhaps Hygge extends to weddings after all!
