Cool and colourful summer wedding from Chelsea Old Town Hall to Toklas London

Having read so many glowing reviews about Toklas, the cool Modern European restaurant in central London at 180 Strand, I was excited when Bella and Theo told me this was where they wanted to host their wedding. Toklas is a brilliant choice for a London city wedding, and it was the perfect setting for the relaxed vibe they wanted to create. Planning their day was fun from start to finish, and I loved incorporating all the sentimental elements and thoughtful details that made the day uniquely theirs.

After an intimate Chelsea Old Town Hall wedding ceremony, where both of the couple’s parents wed back in the early ‘90s, guests travelled by vintage London bus to the restaurant. They sipped champagne and cheered when they spotted ‘Congratulations Isabella and Theo’ displayed across the river on the National Theatre’s iconic scrolling sign. An amazing moment!

The couple’s connection to the arts also inspired our choice of florist. Andy Monaghan, ballet dancer, florist and flower grower, created artful table displays of seasonal dahlias, lining the staircase up to the restaurant and softening the weathered concrete walls and industrial pipework. Wedding stationery, which featured bespoke illustrations of London landmarks and original floral artwork, was beautifully designed by ERA Calligraphy in collaboration with Clare Marks.
